The first known references to the Duomo of Treviso date from the XIIth Century, but all that remains today from the old structure, built on paleochristian ruins with magnificent romanic forms, is its suggestive crypt. The antique cathedral built right at the heart of the city was demolished during the XVIIIth Century and rebuilt in neoclassic style by Andrea Memmo and Gian Antonio Selva, following a project by Castillian architect Giordano Riccati.

The facade we see today is identical to the one built in 1836: an imposing prodrome with six ionic columns and Verona pink marble stilophore lions on each side encompasses the side entrence stairway. The portal, rebuilt in 2005, is all that still remains from the ancient romanic structure.

On the inside, visitors can admire a nave, two aisles and a major central altar decorated with several frescos including the apse bowl of Antonio Beni of Treviso. To the left of the altar we find the Malchiostro Chapel, built in 1520 and decorated by Pordenone, and a casket with the famous Annunciation by Titian. In the Santissimo Sacramento Chapel located to the right of the altar, we see the tomb of Bishop Niccolò Franco, founder of the Monte di Pietà in Treviso.
